Summer Accommodation

During the academic year, Everton provides self-catering flatting accommodation for 189 Victoria University students. Summer accommodation is available for students and others. Everton Hall is centrally located with a stop for Wellington’s historical cable car at the entrance, 5 minutes walk to the Kelburn campus and CBD and 10 to 15 minutes walk from Law school, Pipitea campus Te Papa and Courtney Place. Everton has pleasant sheltered grounds with BBQ areas (gas BBQ available for hire).

Car Parking

A limited number of uncovered car parks are available within the grounds at a cost of $15 per week. Scooters and motorcycles $5 per week.

Types of Accommodation

Fully furnished and equipped 5 bedroom flats in apartment style buildings. Supply own bedding, and towels. Linen packs available for purchase (new $70 and preloved $40) (duvet, duvet cover, sheet, pillow and pillow case). Must provide your own mattress protector.

Notes:

  • Accommodation is on a "one person per room" basis with a maximum of 5 residents per flat
  • Availability of a particular type of flat cannot be guaranteed
  • Rooms will be allocated prior to your arrival and you may be sharing with people you do not know
  • You can nominate who you wish to share with
  • All rooms are lockable

Residence Period

From 12 noon Sunday 13 November 2011 to 12 noon Thursday 23rd February 2012.

Minimum stay is 2 weeks. Shorter stays may be possible depending on availability of rooms. All summer residents must sign a Summer Residence Agreement and pay a deposit.

Payment of Rent

Rates quoted are per room per week. All rooms are single occupancy only.

Old flats: $140 including power.
New flats $165 including power.

N.B.: If an excessive amount of power is used then you will be charged in accordance.

Xmas Special

We offer a rebate to residents living at the Hall for 10 consecutive weeks over the December/January period. The rebated price is half price per week and applies to the following period: 19 December – 8 January. The rebate is not available for part weeks. To qualify: you must apply in writing on the form provided by Mon 12th December; obtain approval from the Head of Hall; and leave your keys with the office whilst away.

Deposit

$320 is payable to secure a room in a flat. You will be contacted about paying the deposit once your application has been accepted. This is refundable less any deductions for rent arrears, car parking, breakages, extra cleaning or other outstanding payments.

Cancellation fee

  • $50 will be deducted from bookings cancelled more than 7 days before your move in date
  • $100 will be deducted from bookings cancelled less than 7 days before your move in date but more than 48 hours before your move in date
  • No refund of deposit if cancellation is less than 48 hours before your move in date, or no cancellation notice given

Notes

  • Credit cards are acceptable for deposits and rents paid in lump sum. A 2.5% bank credit card fee per transaction applies. Credit cards are NOT acceptable for rents paid fortnightly.
  • A minimum of one week’s notice is required when you are leaving. If one week’s notice is not given, one week’s rent will be deducted from your deposit.

Facilities

Laundry – A self service laundry with free washing machines and coin operated dryers ($1 for 45 minutes). Outside clothes line is also available.

Common area – As well as the Hall administration office there is a lounge with TV, pool table, and library books. There is also a Gym with table tennis, badminton and volleyball court, basketball hoop. We also provide vending machines for snack foods and drink, coin operated photocopier, music practice room with piano and study room.

Other facilities - Video and DVD players available for hire from the Office, in the Commons, and board games may be borrowed. Gas BBQ available for hire. Faxes may be sent from the office during office hours of 10am – 2.00pm and 6.30 – 7.30pm.

Smoking - From 2012 Everton Hall will be a smoke free environment. Currently smoking is only permitted in designated outside areas. All flats, buildings, stairwells and balconies are strictly non-smoking areas.
