Facilities and grounds

Accommodation is in 31 five bedroom apartment style flats with eight flats of varying sizes in old villas in the Hall grounds. Two small one-bedroom flats are suitable for couples and a bed-sit flat is suitable for a student with a disability.

All flats are fully furnished including household appliances and utensils. Each flat contains:

  • Kitchen: Stove, fridge-freezer, pots, pans, crockery and cutlery. Microwave not supplied.
  • Lounge: Dining table and chairs, coffee table, lounge suite, heater. TV not supplied.
  • Bathroom: Shower, hand basin, laundry tub and toilet with separate toilet with hand basin.
  • Bedrooms: Single occupancy and contain a single bed with inner sprung mattress, chest of drawers, desk, chair, wardrobe, heater and towel rail. Residents must provide their own bedding including linen and mattress protector. Linen packs (duvet, duvet cover, sheet, pillow and pillow case) are available for purchase for $70.
  • Telephone/internet: cables are connected to the lounge and bedrooms and can be activated through Telecom at the residents’ own cost. Wireless connection is available in most areas of the Hall.
  • Laundry – A self service, communal laundry with free washing machines and coin operated dryers ($1 for 45 minutes). Outside clothes line is also available.

Electricity is not included in the rent and the cost is shared between the flat mates.

Everton Hall community

Commons - As well as the Hall administration office, there is a lounge with TV, pool table, and library books. There is also a Gym with table tennis table, badminton and volleyball court, basketball hoop. Vending machines for snack foods and drink, coin operated photocopier, music practice room with piano and study room are also found in the Commons.

Everton Hall is centrally located with a stop for Wellington’s historical cable car at the entrance. It is 5 minutes walk to the Kelburn campus and CBD and 10 to 15 minutes walk from Law school, Pipitea campus Te Papa and Courtney Place. Everton has pleasant sheltered grounds with BBQ areas (gas BBQ available for hire).

Car parking

A limited number of uncovered car parks are available within the grounds at a cost of $15 per week. Scooters and motorcycles $5 per week.

Smoking

From 2012 Everton Hall will be a smoke free environment. Currently smoking is only permitted in designated outside areas. All flats, buildings, stairwells and balconies are strictly non-smoking areas.
